BLAST Presentation: Using Data to Group Students and Drive Instruction, 7/25!

Do Now (10 mins):

Collaborative Station (30 mins):
Teachers will learn strategies for grouping students and how to differentiate within those groups.

Differentiation definition and example
4 curriculum elements: content, process, product, and affect
3 categories of student need and variance: readiness, interest, and learning profile

Group Roles:

  • Facilitator
    • Advanced, Proficient, or Basic Student
  • Spokesperson
    • Basic/ELL
  • Quality Control
    • Advanced or Proficient Student
  • Process Analyst
    • FBB/BB/ELL

Group based on:
-Misconceptions/Readiness (Homogeneous)
-High/low pairs (Heterogeneous)
-Interest
-Learning modality
-Mindset

Data Analysis Activity-Use the data provided to group students into 2 BLAST stations, with differentiation strategies for each table group at Collaborative Station by making a COPY and using this template.


Independent Station (30 mins):
Teachers will watch videos and answer questions on using data to differentiate in the classroom.

Instructions:
Watch each video using your headphones, then choose one assessment option from below:
